Journey
Shimewuese Bethany Ahua, known in music circles as Shime Ahua, has become a compelling voice in the Afro-gospel genre, a rising force driven by an unyielding passion for sharing the message of God's love through song. Born on March 14, 1999, into a devout Christian family in Nigeria, Shime began her musical journey at the tender age of seven. Growing up as the eldest in a pastor's household, she was immersed in the rhythms of church music, which have profoundly influenced her artistic path.
After making a splash with her 2017 hit single "You and Me," which echoed across continents, from the USA and UK to Nigeria, Canada, Ghana, and Malaysia, Shime solidified her position as a key figure in contemporary gospel music. Her style, characterized by an Afrocentric sound, stands out for its soulful infusion of faith-inspired storytelling. Now based in Abuja, she blurs lines between secular and sacred music, creating songs that emphasize grace over judgment.
Balancing her studies in Biological Sciences at Benue State University, Makurdi, with her musical pursuits, Shime represents the modern, multifaceted artist. Her leadership of her church choir and involvement in projects like the 2024 TV series "Beyond the Veil" illustrate her commitment to both her community and her craft. Through her music, Shime Ahua continues to inspire, uplift, and transform the Afro-gospel landscape with a message of love and hope born of the vibrant Nigerian spirit.
